Bing Crosby’s personal life was defined by two long-term partnerships, each marked by tragedy and legacy. His first marriage was to actress and singer Dixie Lee, a union that lasted from 1930 until her death in 1952.
The couple had four sons together. Their names were Gary, Dennis, Phillip, and Lindsay. Lee’s life ended early, cut short by ovarian cancer.
Crosby did not remain single for long. He married actress Kathryn Grant in 1957. This second marriage would last for the rest of his life.
Together, they added three more children to the Crosby family. They had two sons, Harry Lillis III and Nathaniel, and one daughter, Mary.
The bond between Bing and Kathryn was strong. They stayed together until Crosby’s death in 1977.
His end came suddenly. A heart attack claimed his life.
In total, Crosby fathered seven children across two marriages. The first family was shaped by Dixie Lee’s early passing. The second family stayed together until the very end.
How do we remember the man behind the hits? Often it’s the songs. But the families he built were the real continuity.
The Crosby name endured through these seven children. Two marriages. Three decades of change. One enduring legacy.
